overview:

Key elements of the opportunity were to provide landscape concepts for outdoor terraces that would reflect, yet add richness to an existing office building in Austin. The goal was to create a place so inviting that people would enjoy using it for breaks and social gatherings. Our solution includes combining a palette of
terracotta tile to mimic the existing building material, while breaking it up with a pattern of grey tiles to add accent. Wooden benches and chairs set around tables with grey umbrellas provide a place of shelter from the sun in a garden, cafe-like setting. A combination of native plants potted in hand-chosen terracotta vessels, and vines that will grow to maturity on overhead trellises would add an unexpected lush, green retreat in an urban space. Lighting for night use was also incorporated into the design.
